Privacy Policy
Biiikes is a public calendar of group bike rides, operated by Biiikes LLC, a Washington limited liability company. This policy describes what we collect, why we collect it, who it is shared with, and the choices you have.
Reading without an account
You do not need an account to read Biiikes. If you browse without one, we record which pages were read and for how long, so that we can tell whether the calendar is useful. This is kept indefinitely, under a random key your browser holds, and is not connected to your name, your phone number or your account.
Information we collect
When you create an account, and as you use it, we collect:
- Your phone number and email address, to sign you in, to confirm the number is yours, and to contact you.
- Your name and handle, so that other riders can see who is attending and who is leading.
- Rides you say you are attending, and rides you attended, for rosters and your ride history.
- Rides you lead and the details you provide, in order to publish them.
- Who you rode with, used for trust signals between riders.
- Content you post and photographs you upload. Photographs may include where they were taken.
- Your location while live location is switched on, shared with the people you chose. It stops when you switch it off.
- How you use the service: pages read, notifications opened, and how far you progress through signing up.
- What you read in your feed: which items we showed you and which ones you opened. We use it to order your feed and to tell whether the feed is working at all. You can clear it at any time from the Why this is here panel on any item, and clearing it takes effect on your next read. We do not record this for an account that has told us it belongs to someone under 18.
- Where you are signed in, so that you stay signed in and can sign out everywhere.
- The apps and assistants you connect to your account: each one's name, what it may read, and when you connected it and last used it. You can disconnect any of them from your account page, and Sign out everywhere disconnects them all. One unused for 30 days is deleted.
- Your date of birth, or, for an account made before we asked for one, whether you told us you are 18 or older. It determines what may be recorded about you.
- What you agreed we may text you about and the words you agreed to, and whether a number has replied STOP, so that we can prove consent and honor an opt-out.
If you claim a ride, we also retain the email address you provide, whether it matched the address on that ride, and whether the claim was accepted, including claims we refuse.
Text messages
We send text messages only to people who have asked for them. You are asked separately for each kind when you provide your number, and neither is selected by default.
- A six-digit code to sign in, sent when you sign in.
- A notice that a ride you are attending has been cancelled or has changed its start time.
Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to any message to stop all messages, START to resume them, or HELP for help. Stopping messages does not close your account, and you can still sign in using your email address.
We do not share your phone number, or your consent to receive messages, with anyone else for their marketing. Our messaging provider sends the messages on our behalf and may not use your number for any other purpose.
Information we do not collect
- No search history. What you search for is not recorded against you, and nothing you search informs another person’s suggestions. We count how many searches ran and how many returned nothing, with nothing attached identifying who ran them. When a search returns nothing at all we retain the words, so that we can learn what is missing.
- Nothing behavioral about anyone under 13, or about an account that has not told us its age: no record of how they use the service, and no record of which messages they open. From 13 to 17 we record the same as for anyone else, except what you read in your feed, which we do not record under 18.
- No accounts for anyone under 13.
- No age documents. Where age requires verification, a third party performs it and reports the result. We do not receive the document.
How information is shared
Other riders see what the service displays: your name and handle, rides you are attending, rides you lead, and content you post.
We use service providers to operate Biiikes, covering hosting, email delivery, text message delivery, and image serving. They act on our instructions and may not use your information for their own purposes.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
We may disclose information where the law requires it, or to protect the safety of a person.
How long we keep it
- Rides you recorded, and location history: until you delete them.
- What you read before you had an account: indefinitely. Nothing we keep connects it to you, so deleting an account cannot find it.
- How far you got through claiming a ride, joining or signing in: until you delete your account, or indefinitely if you never create one.
- What you read in your feed: until you clear it, or until your account is removed, whichever comes first.
- An incomplete sign-up: 24 hours after you last touched it. Since 7 September 2026 an account can be nothing but a proven number — you type one, we text a code, you enter it, and if you stop there we hold your number and nothing else. That account is removed on the same 24 hours, and removing it takes any session and any ride you had claimed with it.
- A record of what you agreed we may text you: retained at least until you withdraw it, because the withdrawal is itself the record. It is kept against the phone number rather than the account.
- Which means: if you gave us a number, received a code, and never finished, we keep that number inside the record of what you agreed to — after the account itself is gone. We do it because we already sent you a text and have to be able to show you agreed to it. That record is not you: nothing links it to an account, it appears on no roster, it receives nothing, and it cannot be searched. Reply STOP from that number, or write to us, and it is withdrawn.
- Everything else: for as long as your account exists.
Your rights and choices
The following are available in the service, at your account.
- Access: download everything we hold about you.
- Correction: change your details, and what appears on your profile.
- Leaving: you stop being findable and receive no messages. Nothing is deleted and you can return.
- Erasure: you are removed from the service immediately and your data is deleted seven days later. You may cancel it during those seven days.
- Communication choices: which notifications you receive, and by which channel.
Rides you led remain on the calendar in either case, without your name. A ride that other people attended is a record of their evening as well as yours.
Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to appeal a decision we make about a request. Write to us and we will respond.
Where information is stored
Your information is stored in the United States.
Security
Information is encrypted at rest. Sensitive values, including your phone number, are encrypted using keys held outside the database. Private messages are encrypted.
Changes to this policy
We may change this policy. The date at the top will be updated, and we will notify you of significant changes.
